Last year was one of remarkable progress, innovation, and collaboration at NEIEP, all made possible by our dedicated staff, leadership, and partners. Before we turn our attention to the opportunities ahead for 2025, we wanted to share some of the fantastic achievements of 2024.

Celebrating Key Accomplishments

In 2024, NEIEP hosted an impressive 81 instructor seminars, covering 22 unique topics in total. 1,140 NEIEP Instructors completed workshops, equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to excel in their roles shaping the next generation. 

We updated existing (or launched new) state licensing courses in 12 states, a noteworthy achievement that ensures our state-level, approved curriculum remains compliant to meet a variety of regulatory requirements. These updates are key to maintaining NEIEP’s position as the leading source of elevator construction education in North America and ensuring that IUEC Elevator Mechanics remain ready to meet the demands of their jobs.

Expanding Practical Learning

Practical, hands-on learning is a cornerstone of NEIEP’s curriculum, and 2024 underscored this commitment. We successfully launched the Semester 100 Practical, a new, innovative program designed to enhance real-world skills through immersive, hands-on training and assessment. Throughout 2024, we held over 120 practical exam sessions, providing students with invaluable opportunities to apply their knowledge in realistic settings. Our commitment to making high-quality education accessible to students across the U.S. is evident in the work of our local committees and instructors who delivered a total of 1,226 on-site classes nationwide.

Innovating with Technology

Another notable achievement in 2024 was the launch of our new online exam system. This new system streamlines our assessments, improves accessibility, and makes the overall experience seamless for students and educators. We plan to build on this success as we move through 2025, exploring new ways to integrate technology into our educational framework.

Recruitment Success

NEIEP assisted in 31 completed recruitment efforts in 2024, which resulted in a steady pipeline of talented individuals entering the elevator industry. These efforts extended far beyond standard outreach and included attendance and/or participation in flagship elevator industry and education events such as the American School Counselors Association, Trades Women Build Nations, Skills USA, the TERO Conference, and the IUEC’s International Meeting.

Engaging with a variety of audiences at different events that intersect our work in both education and the trades allows us to attract a new generation of Elevator Mechanics, broadening awareness of the opportunities within our industry.

Upholding Rigorous Standards

Another highlight of 2024 was the Certified Signal Person and Rigger Levels 1 & 2 (CSPR-1/CSPR-2) program passing its 5-year ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) assessment. The CSPR program remains one of only two organizations in the United States to offer ANAB-accredited certification in Rigging and Signaling.  The program promotes signal person competency and a safer work environment for IUEC Members.

Enhancing Accessibility

Accessibility and inclusivity were major priorities throughout 2024, and to better serve our diverse community, we translated the NEIEP Program Catalog and National Apprenticeship Standards into Spanish. Our Spanish language efforts stretched further as we translated 13 curriculum units, totaling 501 pages of material, 528 figures, tables, and schematics, and 1,646 PowerPoint slides. Translations are key in creating an inclusive, accessible environment in which students can succeed.

Their commitment to their students is a major driving force behind the industry’s continued success. Through hard work, they empower students to build confidence, master skills, and prepare themselves for meaningful careers.
