Dave Morgan is the Executive Director of the National Elevator Industry Educational Program (NEIEP), having previously served as National Coordinator for the Elevator Industry Work Preservation Fund (EIWPF).
Dave’s journey in the elevator industry began in 1994 as a Helper with Delta Beckwith. After ascending to the position of mechanic, Dave honed his skills in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In 2003, armed with an Associate degree in Electronic Engineering, earned Summa Cum Laude from Wentworth, he joined Associated Elevator as an adjuster. At the same time, he became a NEIEP Instructor, keen to nurture the next generation of elevator professionals.
Education has always been key for Dave, and he obtained QEI certification and pursued business administration courses at the National Labor College, as well as completing the NEIEP Instructor certificate program through Roger Williams University. Dave demonstrated his desire to see more diversity in the industry through his role as an Educator and Liaison for Building Pathways Boston.
Dave’s dedication to safety led him to serve on the Board of Elevator Regulations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 2019, he assumed the role of National Coordinator for the Elevator Industry Work Preservation Fund (EIWPF), where he crafted curriculum and trained elevator inspectors. He also played a pivotal role in developing elevatorinfo.org, the elevator industry’s leading information hub.
Dave has brought fresh vision and leadership to NEIEP, and his drive to elevate industry standards and foster innovation has made him a prominent figure. Under his guidance, NEIEP continues to shape the future of elevator industry education and training.
John Caughey is a prominent figure in the elevator industry, currently serving as the Assistant National Director at the National Elevator Industry Educational Program (NEIEP).
With over two decades of experience in the field, John has established himself as a respected leader and educator, dedicated to enhancing the skills and knowledge of elevator professionals. Prior to joining NEIEP, John held various positions at Otis Elevator Co., and he also served as Chairman of the Mass Board of Elevator Regulations for over seven years.
John attended Boston Latin School from 1972 to 1978, and then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Boston University, finishing his studies in 1985. Later, he obtained an MBA from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University, specializing in Finance and Strategy, and graduated in 2006.
Throughout his career, John has been pivotal in NEIEP successfully continuing its mission to elevate industry standards and ensure the highest level of competence among elevator technicians. Under John’s leadership, NEIEP has witnessed a notable expansion in its educational offerings, including online courses, workshops, and certifications.
As Assistant National Director, John is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of NEIEP programs, ensuring that they align with the ever-evolving demands of the field. Moreover, John has been instrumental in fostering collaborations with industry leaders and manufacturers to ensure that the training provided remains cutting-edge.

His impact on the industry and its professionals is felt every day, as he continues to empower and inspire the next generation of elevator professionals.

The National Elevator Industry Educational Program (NEIEP) offers craft training for all employees covered by the agreement between Signatory Contractors and the IUEC. NEIEP effectively provides hands-on training utilizing labs, assorted training aids, text materials, and video.
Some of NEIEP’s main responsibilities are to manage and direct the implementation of curricula; design, administer and monitor the Probationary Training and Evaluation Program for all new hires entering the trade; administer a Distance Learning Program for eligible students; and conduct beginning through advanced level seminars for instructors to improve teaching skills and techniques.
NEIEP designs, develops, updates, administers, and monitors the Mechanic Examinations in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor.
